Ludlow Bistro Here To Stay
By Tricia & Michelle / foodie@longislandernews.com

Now thriving in its third year, Ludlow Bistro in Deer Park is a boutique style bistro that is setting the trend for the new generation.

Owner Brian Connelly, a Half Hollow Hills High School East grad, boasts that Ludlow’s steak is better than a steak house’s, the fish is better than a seafood restaurant’s and the pasta is better than that of any Italian restaurant. The secret? The bistro’s use of fresh ingredients prepared by chef extraordinaire Daniel Dignon.

Dignon’s creativity has raised Ludlow Bistro’s menu to the next level. Every week an exotic game is introduced as a specialty, and it is not uncommon to see elk, venison, stuffed veal or rack of lamb color the pages of Ludlow’s specials. Though many other restaurants boast similar fare, few restaurants can match the savory tastes of Ludlow’s cuisine.

We began our lunch with the Thai Chicken Egg Roll ($8) and the Calamari ($9). Both were brought out with expert presentation. The egg roll, served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce, was divine, and the calamari, topped with cherry peppers and complemented by a tomato sauce, was just heavenly.

For our entrées we ordered the Sliced Steak Wrap ($13) and the Pulled Duck Wrap ($12). The Steak Wrap came with roasted peppers, caramelized onions and Gorgonzola cheese and was a lunch favorite, and the Duck Wrap was the best we’ve ever had.

Ludlow offers two separate menus for lunch and dinner, but one can order off of the dinner menu anytime. Its proximity to the Tanger Outlets at the Arches makes it a perfect place to stop in for lunch or dinner before or after shopping, and from Nov. 2 - Nov. 9 Ludlow Bistro will be offering a prix fix menu for $24.95 for Long Island Restaurant Week. Connelly, who is actively involved in the Hills community and recently sponsored the Half Hollow Hills district’s Dancing With The Faculty, realizes the economy is difficult and encourages community members to come and enjoy the savings. The prix fix meal will include an appetizer, entrée and dessert.

Ludlow Bistro occasionally features live music and special events such as wine tastings, and is available for catering or booking showers, communions and parties.
Affordable and approachable with a friendly staff and a warm, energizing atmosphere, Ludlow Bistro is the place to go if you’re in the mood to sample some of Long Island’s finest fare.
